Enrica Sala
Enrica Sala, born in 1964, lives in Genoa, by the sea she loves and draws inspiration from for her artistic work. She has been active publicly for over a decade, regularly taking part in both solo and group exhibitions, although she has always expressed her creativity through modeling, sculpture, painting, and drawing. In this phase of her artistic production, she combines driftwood — selected, worked, and carved — with small ceramic forms she models herself, creating compositions and sculptures.
"The sea environment is, for me, a kind of “free zone” for introspection — a place from which I can observe myself, my relationships with others, and the world with more distance and objectivity. I work with wood by following its movement or shaping its forms, and I model clay into shapes inspired by underwater life. By bringing these materials into dialogue, I try to express the perfect, complex beauty of all the diverse and essential elements that make up our world."
